The Beltane Story

For those of you that have shown interest and have made the request...
I am giving thought to the continuing story of Lindella, and will pursue writing (in segments) the
story leading up to Beltane celebrations again this year.
Sorry it's taken so long to get back to this...but life has had a few bumps in the road the past few months.

Re-reading last year story is my next task....maybe you'd like to do so as well.

The rains are back ...so there more time in the house ...for pondering.

Glencoe Memorial-Hillsboro, Oregon

Yesterday there was (as there is each year) a Memorial Service for the Massacre of Glencoe that took place in Glencoe, Scotland 13th Feb. 1692.
I was unable to attend because of the needs of my shop.
Two very good friends (Jim and Pat McClean) placed stones at the Cairn there,
to honour of my Father and David R. Ross.

They wrote and said: (about the stones)

Names and dates were put on them with a fine felt pin and then covered with clear varnish.   Jim said a few words about David and your Dad. 
It is a tradition for the MacDonald's to place a stone at the Cairn for those that had passed from this world in the year proceeding the Memorial. And I'm am very thankful to have friends that can be there for me in this manner. Jim and Pat are very good souls indeed! And you can meet them at the Highland Games in the Northwest, by visiting the Clan MacLean tent.

My son opened his shop, "Seaside Beads", yesterday and took his initial plunge into the wacky world of retail in a coastal town. Next time you're in Seaside...make sure to stop by and see him. Hopefully he won't look so tired by then. He had just taken over the location at the beginning of the month and has pulled many 'all nighters' to get the doors open, by this weekend.

My friend Jimi McRae (aka Jimi the Piper) is in Beijing, China...piping in the Chinese New Year! Hope he's staying warm...and having a great time of it. I think this is the 3rd time he's been hired on to do this.

New stock is arriving at the shop each day now...and I'm making ready for the season (which starts with this weekend for me) and St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner...I can smell the Corned Beef and Cabbage already!

One of the 'local haunts' on Ave "U'' here has been taken over by new owners. It used to be Goose Hollow...now is Harbour Bites. But, unfortunately they have no Guinness on tap like the Goose people did.
So (as far as I know) Dundee's downtown is now the only game in town to serve up the Guinness on draught.
Bummer for all that like to partake in the dark amber waterfall of this nutritious libation. (I've already expressed my feelings about this with the new staff on Ave "U".) Having options in life is a very good thing.

Shop Hours for the Upcoming Holiday Weekend

Dear Folk,

I am in the process of bringing new items in for the upcoming season. New arrivals each week.
First up is Presidents Weekend and St. Valentine's Day. Then off and running for the Shamrocks
with St. Patrick's Day. The clothing range for the Irish is being produced now and should be arriving soon.

This weekend I will be open:
Thurs. thru Monday
10am-2pm (or later if it is busy)

The 1st (unofficial) Visit Scotland Centre in the USA-located in the back portion of the shop is now open!

Visit Scotland has sent the new 2010 Travel Planners, Ancestral booklets (with a map of where the
Clans of Scotland had the land holdings), Maps of Scotland (wall size), and many other items of interest.
These are the essentials needed for planning your upcoming trip to the Homeland.

I have started to fill the walls with information about history and sites to see and experience.

Onward and upward into 2010!
